View Full Version : Calling Trance Listeners
stripeyteapot 03-25-2004, 06:40 AM I recently started listening to trance, a few of the songs I like are;
Faithless - Insomnia
PPK - Resurrection (Space Club Mix)
Eurythmics - Sweet Dreams (Trance Remix)
I also like some / most of the songs on the Northern Exposure CD by Sasha and John Digweed.
Can you name more songs like this please?
Regards,

stripeyteapot 03-25-2004, 07:32 AM mobilebadboy - that link is great ;)
mobilebadboy 03-25-2004, 08:20 AM :) I've been a DI listener for years. I remember back when Ari only had a channel or two, and the occasional peak amount of listeners being around 1500. It's a tad bigger now. ;)
stripeyteapot 03-25-2004, 08:22 AM Yea, 3000 on at the moment :)
mobilebadboy 03-25-2004, 08:25 AM There's about 11,000 on right now. 3000 just on the trance channel. ;)
stripeyteapot 03-25-2004, 08:34 AM :P lol yea, again thanks for the link :)

I'll second that.
My ISP provides a free relay of that channel (and a few others) for their customers. I usually transfer about 25GB a month using it :)

stripeyteapot 03-25-2004, 11:40 AM A lot of great songs on there, been listening to it since the link was posted :)

daylate 03-25-2004, 01:08 PM hmm I have over a gig of dance music on my pc. Hmm I wonder how it got "there" :P Anyway, If your ranging away from trance to the entire dance / club scene: Look for music from:
DJ Encore, Louie Devito, Johnny Vicious, and so go. Good stuff. Only music that helps me get through the day *sigh*

Add DJ Doboy(especially his vocal mixes) and you hit it right on the nose. :)
Ferry Corsten was here in Montreal about 2 weeks ago, couldn't go, but I heard it was amazing. :D
daylate 03-25-2004, 04:46 PM Paul Oakenfold is the sh!*
phision, Seems I have all those on there, wonder how they got there?
If you really enjoy trance sign up for an Amazon.com account. (It's free) Check here ( http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/browse/-/468938/103-9168417-2951039 ) when your done. It's all great music. :)
I remember Insomnia by Faithless. Back in 94 or so I was given a free CD single by a local rap station. I have about 120 trance songs now. My friend that I visit every so often has over 300 cd's of trance. One of these days I might borrow them. ;)
stripeyteapot 03-25-2004, 05:19 PM Hey,
Not sure if it was RDX or not, but someone gave me that link also, some good music on there!
alvinks 03-25-2004, 05:22 PM every time I hear the word trance I think of pools of etards and grown people holding light sticks.

Patrick 03-25-2004, 06:15 PM Anything by:
DJ Tiesto
Paul Van Dyk
Ferry Corsten
Paul Oakenfold
My "current" favorite song is:
Motorcycle - As The Rush Comes
If you like fast pace trance check out Icebird. He seems to have some good music on Amazon. I'll check out PPK as i've heard good things about them.
WirralNet Matt 03-25-2004, 06:31 PM Too many variations of trance to say really, Insomnia is older and fairly commercial style of trance.
Id say things by the likes of Sash! (hehe), older ATB and DJ Jurgen stuff will interest you.
Id certainly recommend PPK. Thier album entitled "Russian Trance Formation" is simply awsome!
I would be careful what Ferry Corstern projects you pick. The most tracny of his projects was System F, however him as Ferry Corsten has never been really trancy, its a lot more like Techno. I was not too keen on his Gouryella or Tsunami projects.
Van Dyk is awsome.
Tiesto is very very techno nowadays, although a lot of his older stuff is good trance.
The best albums to satisfy your needs would be the likes of Ministry Of Sound Trance Nation Series (especially Trance Nation 4, Trance Nation Harder and best of all Trance Nation Anthems) and the Cream series of Future Trance and CreamLive.
Where did you buy PPK's CD at? Mp3.com is gone, any other place to download it? Since they seem to share it for free I would hope it is legal, if not i've heard good things about them so I would spend the $10 to buy their CD.

CD wow is in GBP. :(

Getting trance outside of europe is a bugger. You can try a few of the trance nation albums by MoS, however I believe these are edited for the USA (more cheese).
Try buying from virgin/cd-wow and importing, or try eBay.
WirralNet Matt 03-25-2004, 10:16 PM I think CD Wow ship all over the world. They now source their CD's direct from Europe due to legal action by record companies, so they should be un-edited :)
Hostlead 03-25-2004, 10:22 PM check out tranceaddict.com

Tranceaddict is a great website with a nice following.
kris1351 03-26-2004, 02:33 AM Tranceaddict is an awesome source for music.
You should check out BT, Brian is one of the best producers out there. Also, http://www.djdfuse.com (D:Fuse) is one of our favorites. We go see him each time he comes to Dallas. We are going to Austin on May 7th since my wife is taking her state boards down there.
Pixabit 03-26-2004, 02:38 AM I like Milk Inc
Corsten is the MANG!
EthicalEpi 03-26-2004, 07:47 AM http://www.globalbeatz.net
has a large collection of mixes available for downloading in all sorts of styles (you have to sign up to download but it's free).
I've been listening to this guy called pete cox a bit recently. Some of his funky drum'n'bass mixes are quite cool (nice and uplifting to have on while you're working) at www.f9radio.com
LanceCoder 03-26-2004, 10:41 AM Filo and Peri (http://www.filoandperi.com/) :)
stripeyteapot 03-26-2004, 10:47 AM whoaaa lol :) thanks everyone using all my bandwidth now :P
kris1351 03-29-2004, 10:31 PM Search for MadWax out there. He is a local DJ, but releases some awesome mixes. You will enjoy him a lot. Cannot say enough about D:Fuse either, definately one of the names that will be in mainstream in the near future.
Sander Kleinenberg
Digweed
Sasha
Pete Tong
Just a few more to try out.

Doboy kicks *** :) I'm hooked on eurojam's Vol. 1.
He also hosts some of his stuff on his site. He rotates it a few times a month usually.

Im surprised no mentioned Chris Lawerence, he used to be a home town favorite. I remember seeing him, DJ Dan, Jason Blakemore (aka original DJ trance), Ron D Core, Doc Martin, and Simply Jeff every weekend for like 3 years for like 2-5 bucks. Man do i miss those days sometimes....
kris1351 03-30-2004, 01:51 AM Forgot about Chris, he is a great DJ also. I like his older stuff.
