View Full Version : Eagle Web update
yuffie123 11-03-2001, 09:07 AM Just received a mail from Eagle Web which said the ff:
We where moving the sites to another server, but we had some problems with that, because the company went out of business, so we had to move everything to another server with another company. Now all the problems are fixed and the new servers are much better than the older ones, more stable and bigger.
During the downtime we weren't able to send e-mails, so we couldn't contact you.
We want to give you a free month of hosting when you stay at Eagle web services.
Best Regards,
Frederik K
President Eagle Web Services

...What? Their website is now on a RaQ and trace-routes to Rackshack. What were they using before, 33 MHz 486's?
Hey, at least their website is back up.
Kylecool 11-03-2001, 02:37 PM Most people have other email accounts besides the one @theirdomain.com . I have a ton myself, all which check every 3 minutes. I have *@kylecool.com , kreilly@socal.rr.com , kylecool@aol.com , everything. I'm sure they could've contacted their clients. I wouldn't do business with them. A site down a couple hours let along DAYS is horrible, and I wouldn't trust them with hosting a cheap personal site. Just MY PERSONAL opinion of the matter.
I hear RackShack is pretty good, but since they get sooo much bandwidth for 129 bucks a month, maybe they will drop their prices or give more bandwidth? Anyways, I will NEVER go to them nor do I know many sane people who would. Just giving my 2 cents, because I'm sick and in a B*tchy mood......

Please note that these are my personal feelings on this topic and I DO NOT and these DO NOT reflect other's feelings.
Aloha
well being on Rackshack is not the prob it is how he handled it
he could have emailed everyone before the servers went down !!!!!
this is a copout in my book
bad business very bad business
he could have called he could have setup a hotmail account and emailed everyone with a temp email
no excuses for ruining people business
UmBillyCord 11-03-2001, 04:53 PM Wow - free hosting for a week or more of downtime? Great. Sign me up.

A RaQ 4i is pretty much on the bottom end of the scale as far as hardware goes, so I was (somewhat sarcastically) wondering what they were running on before the big upgrade.
It's all is just a big line of you-know-what anyway, just like the part about not being able to send e-mail because their servers were down.

They were on Raq's before, but I think it was a 4R. Sounds like he should have called it a "downgrade".
Aloha
yeah ;)
I guess it was like he was trying an excuse of saying we are moving to better machines etc...
obvious he is clueless (eagle that is)
hope rackshack reads this and thinks twice about his practices
man what a lame excuse still though he gave

yuffie123 11-03-2001, 09:38 PM Anyhow after my horrendous experience with Eagle Web, I wouldn't go back there for whatever they offer me.
I'm sticking with ecommercediscovery.
At least the next time someone does a search for Eagle Web Services on this forum, he/she will be getting a lot more material compared to before.

Honu,
I don't know if you've noticed or not, but Eagle (Leslie Herps) was bought out by the other co-owner (Frederik K I think his name is) before the down time. So I don't know if it's right to put all the blame on him.
You can find some info here.. (http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=25031)
Aloha
then sorry to Eagle (Leslie Herps)
please eaccept aplogy if this is the case and double shame on the new owner not to notify
glad you pointed that out ;)
I used to haver a very very large business on the mainlnad we were one of the largest skateboard and snowboard delaers in the NW US when I closed down I sold out stock etc and refused to sell the business cause I did not want a new owner to give it a bad name and have my name attacehd to anything I still feel that way. just because of this reason ;)
