I am in search of a solution for adding service status (http, smtp, ftp, etc) so visitors/customers can see that services are on or offline. If anyone has an idea of how this is done, please respond to this post.

Flutt is extremely easy/quick to install. I recently added it to a site.

NetStatus looks cool, though it seems like it's more network related (for use with a local network or as a local install for monitoring). It doesn't seem to fit his request of being used for visitors to monitor services. That's what I gathered from it's homepage at least from what I could see. I might give it a test run though.
