Hi,

I'm moving to a new host. I got use to Red Hat 6.2, what is the main different between the two.

Which do you recommend?

What do you think about Verio?

I think 7.2 might still be too new to be able to get any serious feed back. It's only been out for 2 weeks. With that said 7.2 gives you the option of using a journaling file system and it comes with a 2.4 kernel.

It comes with the new Ext3 filesystem which is better than Ext2 :)

yeah the new ext3 filesystem is a journaling filesystem so it can survive sudden shutdowns easier.

If you are going to get a dedicated server, might want to possibly look into FreeBSD. Most believe it is better suited for web hosting.

does the new ext3 filesystem allow you to have .tar.gz files that are bigger than 2gb ? anyone know

We had 7 Hosting servers and dns machines running RedHat 6.2 and almost all got hacked, we upgraded to 7.1 and they havent been cracked since.. the XINET is the real difference, about 7.2, i've used it alittle, the ext3 FS is good and it works, but there are also alot of security/bug fixes in the first few weeks/months of a release i suggest you wait a few weeks for 7.2, Try 7.1 :)

Just my $.02

Here's what I found at Linux Magazine...

Looks like the limit was in the kernel and not the fs.
