IM making a research because i plan to run a webhosting company. Im considering rackshack offer.

But some guys told me that a cobalt raq4i is not recommend to offer multilpe customers hosting php+mysql based. Is that true?

Well, there is nothing magic with the RAQ. Just a somewhat tweaked Readhat Linux box. The thing is it has 450 Mhz CPU which compared to a 'regular' box with say 1Ghz will mean you will sooner hit the maximum number of sites you can host.

well if tera-byte used it for web-hosting than i guess you can start with a RAQ too :)

Good for starting - yes I guess so. As said above, the machine is all right if you don't overload it, however I must say the Cobalt Control Panel lacks a lot compared to other like CPanel, Plesk etc.

I'd say that a RAQ is low on price when it comes to the machine itself and bandwidth ( talking specifically about the Rackshack deal ) , however I think that if your customers want more than just static HTML pages costs in terms of work for you will rise.

I mean such things as creating a MySQL database, subdomain, 404 pages is something the customers can't do themselves - you will need to handle requests from them and do it yourself...

I am actually currently working on a CP addon for the RAQ which will give users some more choices.

Nonsense - we have quite a number of clients using PHp and mySQL on a RaQ 4i ...
