Long story short..
My clients domain expired in Jan, 2004, she was not notifed by NetSol at all regarding the expiration. Earlier this month she opened a ticket regarding she could no longer visit her website - I investigated and found that her domain has been expired for months. She contacts Network Solutions regarding it and they tell her she needs to pay $150 to renew the domain, or let it expire and re-register it in a few weeks..
I am soo fed up with NetSol's crap -- they make me seem like I'm not doing my job, when its them who are slacking, and as usual, ripping MY customers off.
Since when is a renewal $150?!?!?!!?
Redemption period. This was done a few months ago, and is now common to all registrars. Pay or wait. Chances are waiting will lose the name.
It's up to the customer or the business that registers the name to keep up with when it's due. If she didn't notice the site was down for the 30 days (or so) before it becomes an expensive thing to reinstate, it's no fault of NetSol. Same for not having a valid email address for them to warn of the expiration. I believe they send notices to the address in the record...

Talk about slimey... did you see their new campaign? They're offering 100 YEAR RENEWAL (http://www.networksolutions.com/en_US/manage-it/bulk-renewal.jhtml). Anyone that falls for that will be a lost customer for life to anyone hoping to sell domain names to their customers. Yikes!
Much more about it in this thread. (http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=251128)

First off, NetSol DOES send out not only 1 but 4 renewal notification by e-mail PLUS at least 1 by snail mail. If your client did not get any, probably either her e-mail or postal address is wrong.
And not meant to be rude, as a host, it's always a good idea to track clients' domain expiry dates, just to avoid looking bad in circumstances like this. A simple flagging/reporting program or even plug-in will do the job, even with a huge client base.

Unfortunately NetSol also send out a lot of unsolicited junk mail, and have lots of spam reports filed against them, which means that their servers get blacklisted on a regular basis.
Our spam filters HOLD suspected spam rather than deleting it, so we can see any NetSol messages that get trapped and release them... but other providers use spam filtering that returns or ditches suspected spam, so some people's renewal reminders may never get through.

The $150 fee has been there for a few months now. All registrars charge this fee.

the fee i usually $85 - $200
most charges $200, so if netsol charges $150 not bad to recover from redemption period.
registry fee is $85 :)
