Oh the pain of having a surname the same as a sporting goods manufacturer!
Anyway, I'd love a "personal" domain name for e-mail use however every option I'm interested in for me has already been taken with the exception of:

ltd.uk - I'm not a limited company and I'm not really interested in that anyway.
uk.com - I KNOW this is just a subdomain and I'm aware of the risks. Price always put me off at around £50+ for two years.

Whilst doing a search I find that freeparking.co.uk are doing uk.com domains for £36.99 for 2 years "all inclusive".
This is around £20 cheaper than I've seen them anywhere else and actually possibly appealing.

Has anybody had any kind of dealings with freeparking.co.uk before?
Any problems transfering the domain from them in the future?
If you've got a horror story about them then please let me know!

I used freeparking with no problems, I've since transferred to 123-reg.co.uk as they were cheaper for my needs.

freeparking (for .uk anyway) will allow you to control your domain, put it wherever you want, this was useful when I got stung by a failed ISP as I was able to repoint it without any involvement of the ISP.

I guess most domain resellers offer you this these days.

Thanks for that.
I actually use 123-reg for all of my domains.
However a uk.com domain through them would cost me £70.48 for two years once vat and the like has been added.
That kind of price has put me off in the past.
£37 on the other hand despite being a lot more than .uk & .com domains is a little more affordable.

Thanks again - just wanted to hear from somebody who has actually used them without a problem :)

Ouch ! £70 for a domain :-( Didn't realise it was that much

I had a customer wanting to transfer in and renew, as it was a personal site, he decided not to renew and went with a new .info instead.

Their control panel will let you nominate name servers, admin contacts etc... You can even change the TAG yourself should you wish to release the domain to another registrar.
