Hi
My server is currently set up with the host name aqua.splashhost.com and name servers ns1. and ns2.splashhost.com. I need to change aqua.splashhost.com to something else to keep my resellers happy, does anyone know the procedure for doing this without causing any problems or downtime.
If you're running RH it's pretty easy...
Edit.. /etc/sysconfig/network
and change the hostname listed
Then edit.. /etc/hosts
and replace the old hostname with the new one.
The changes will take effect upon restart.

Also, if you have DNS running on that server, remember to update your zone files with the new information and reload them. You will need to update Apache if that is running as well.

there is no mention of aqua.splashhost.com in any of the zone files, only the name servers, im not going to change the name servers.

As superuser type: hostname <new hostname here> to set a new hostname on your machine.

the old hostname still appears at the top of the phpinfo page.
anyone know what to do about that?
If you have cpanel, the box may have licensing issues. Just a word of caution...
