Okay, I've read a lot of posts yesterday trying to get an understanding of "who's who" and "what's what."

I've seen their Raq offer (and it does sound tempting), but I've also read of problems. Being a newbie problems at the start are a horror show.

Is their deal too good to be true (300gigs of bandwidth; Is it for real)? Are there hidden costs involved? Been told that a Cobalt Blade server would be okay in my project, but sheese on the setup fee.

[I do accept PMs]. ;)

I've got 2 raq4's with them. No hidden costs and yes you really get 300 GB of bandwidth. I've used up every bit of it plus some this october. I've been very happy with them.

Only thing about raq4's is they don't handle heavy scripting loads that well, but other then that they work just great. Moderate scripting in PHP is no problem usually.

Would you say linking to graphics and a possible message board (like this one) would be too intensive?

How's the price for extra bandwidth?

I've never dealt with them, but I have heard that they charge sales tax. While it's not really a hidden cost, it's another thing you have to pay. There was a thread about it recently:

<Sign on that thread>.

So they can tax a whooping 8.5%. That's an incredible extra cost on top of the $200 setup fee.

What you are proposing should be no sweat for the raq4 in my experience. As far as sales tax goes, yes they do charge it, but it is because of the laws in the state of Texas. It seems to me Rackshack has no choice in the matter.
