Dotregistrar.com sells domains for 12.99 $. Nothing unnormal, but this seems to be the price for a 10 years registration
Is this a joke, or worse, a fraude ? I can't imagine this can be real. That would be 1.299 $ per year ; if a registrar uses this prices he'll be flat broke in a short time...

Dotregistrar.com is a good solid company.
$12.99 if you prepay $129.9, is it hard to understand?

It is.
Dotregistrar have something they call "DRY" - Domain Registration Year.
When you open an account with them you buy a certain number of DRYs - the more you buy the cheaper it gets. You then use the DRYs to register or renew domains. So - if you pay them $129.90 for ten DRYs you can either renew one domain for ten years, or ten for one year each, or any combination in between.
Prices range from single DRYs at $15.99 each, to 1000 DRYs at $6.49 each.

It's a break when you purchase in bulk. For example, when you get a hosting service there are usually 2 or 3 different prices. If you pay monthly it can be $10.00/mo. When you pay every 6 months it can be $8.00/mo. When you buy yearly it can be $7.00/mo.
The same idea is behind that domain. You have to pay for a full 10 years at once, but it breaks down to 12 bucks a year.
By the way, GoDaddy.com is only 8/year :)

Dotregister call it DRY
Tucows call it DY
It is a standart de-facto to buy in DYs.
Other companies have certain prices for multiple years and different prices for multiple domains.
Godaddy's years discounts, for example, are better than Godaddy's domains. However, in dotregister and tucows the DYs are universal thing.

The pricing is on the high side.
It is $12.99 PER YEAR. Read that image with the green tick on top of the pricing table, it says Pricing Per year.

I find it hard to pay that much per year when there are so many companies offerring free domains with hosting or even lower costs than that amount. I saw an ad for 1and1.com for under $6 per year!
