View Full Version : temporarily rejected RCPT

One of my servers starting rejecting all email from Hotmail (only, apparently) and is giving the following error:

temporarily rejected RCPT : Could not complete sender verify

I tried
/scripts/updateuserdomains and
/scripts/mailperm (which did fix many permissions) but it still fails with the same error, (apparently this just started like 2 days ago).

Do you have a caller-id type of setup ? Where your server does a VRFY command on the sending server ?

hmmm not sure

no timeout just the above error: temporarily rejected RCPT : Could not complete sender verify

I have many servers and it seems to be happening only on 1 server

this may be related to your DNS, not to Exim.

Different errors here... The problem mentioned by the thread starter may be related to resolv.conf or something like that.

Bashar: have you tried /scripts/mailperm? Is your /etc/localdomains ok?

nope sending out from www.hotmail.com still generates the same error:

2004-03-22 08:47:38 H=(hotmail.com) [207.68.162.20] F=<xxxxxx@hotmail.com> temporarily rejected RCPT <sales@xx***********>: Could not complete sender verify

u got freebsd box ?

check if u have /etc/exim.pl

if not copy it from /usr/local/cpanel/bsdconf/exim/exim.pl

also run /scripts/exim4-rh73test
and
/scripts/rebuildeximbsd
/scripts/upcp --force

somehow one of them fixed the problem @ my box :D

If you really need to send these e-mails ASAP, an initial measure could be disable 'Verify the existance of email senders' on 'Exim Configuration Editor' (WHM - Basic Mode), or manually edit the ACL.

I had this problem too, but it used to work. I had to turn off the "verify existance of email senders".

I tried

/scripts/updatenow
/scripts/upcp
/scripts/exim4
/scripts/mailscannerupdate
/scripts/mailperm

in various combinations and none have solved the issue completely...

They sort of did fix it, but my servers share same top level domain such as:

server1.domain.name
server2.domain.name

Seems email is being rejected from some of these as they are not primary MX for domain. I even set mail zones for the subdomains and all inthe name zone and all, I am sure it is right cause whe I did nslookup set type=mx it said it correctly. Still this is fscking up :(

Looks like we will be getting more spam

hmm wierd, try setting your resolvers to external nameservers and see if that fix it?

It must be something I did with DNS, I will dig deeper and post back later once I solve this one ;)
