What type of monitoring is included?

I know your offerings to be a quality first approach, so I am anxious to hear the below answers...

Without giving away your "trade secrets" could you describe how you keep your colo environment secure? It would seem to be somewhat more difficult than securing your managed offering, relying on your customer's own security savy.

Thanks

You may want to clarify what aspects of security you are inquiring about.

Hey Matt,

I will try my best to answer your question but if it's not what you are looking for, just let me know (and any specific questions you may have). You are correct, security with colo customers is more difficult than with managed dedicated customer. :) Our network is a fully switched/routed network. What this means to our customers is that their traffic will not be flooded to all NICs (except some arp and broadcast traffic) which helps with packet security.
We VLAN out customers in clusters of about 10 customers per VLAN, unless a private VLAN is needed (we would love to VLAN out each customer, but because of IP growth, etc. it's almost impossible). This helps keep the arp and broadcast traffic to a minimum (only that VLAN's) and also helps with keeping the packet sniffing effectiveness to a minimum (one VLAN does not see the other).
We monitor each server's bandwidth patterns and look for weird, or strange, burst patterns that don't fit in the norm (this usually is a telltale sign of a hack). We try to contact customers when we see unusual network activity.
We offer managed Netscreen firewall solutions to both our colocation and managed customer.
We try to educate our colo customers about security if we see something that could be, or done, more securely.
We offer server OS hardening (at an additional cost) to our customers.
Hope that helps, if you have any additional questions just let me know.

Thanks,

PS. I sent you an email this morning, hope you got it!
