Has anyone had any success setting up FrontPage Server extensions on a Unix box? If so, please let me know, I'd like to know your secret. I'm running Apache 1.3.22 with the whole nine yards and Red Hat 7.

Thanks!

I used the improved mod_frontpage, instead of the apache-fp patch available from ready to run software.

If you're going to use the rtr patch, you'll need to patch the patch. It's written for 1.3.19.

If you use mod_frontpage, you'll need to patch it, because it TOO is written for 1.3.19. There's really only a few things you need to modify.

change all references to "version4.0" to "version5.0", assuming you're going to be using the v5 2002 extensions.

change all references to "1.3.19" to "1.3.22".

you'll also need to modify the context for one of the diffs for the patch to apply correctly. It's like hunk 7 for the .configure script.

After the improved mod_frontpage is still compatible with apache 1.3.22

Other than that, just follow the instructions they have for Apache+Frontpage+mod_ssl+PHP4+PHP3

You'll also want to download the improved mod_frontpage for 1.3.19 from mandrake's site. Because the official page only has the 1.3.17 version available.

If you want the improved mod_frontpage for 1.3.22, or the rtr apache-fp patch for 1.3.22, let me know.

Ive been in hosting for a long time, the ONE product for linux which i hate and almost always refuse to install/support for linux is Frontpage. Its an evil plugin written by those windows guys at Micro$oft that is trying to run on a linux system - YUCK
