Hi,

I'm trying to find a one-stop solution to buying co.kr, co.jp, co.cn and similar international domain names. I thought it would just be a matter of going to Network Solutions, but it seems I have to go to various international sites to register these domain names. Particularly with the Korean sites, I go to the Korean registrars and I can register a co.kr domain on the Korean version of the site, but switch to the helpful English version and I can't register co.kr any more! Also I need a Korean ID number, which makes it impossible for non-Korean nationals to buy co.kr.

I don't mind working in other languages, but this problem is compounded further when I buy domain names for website translation clients, they want to own the domain and it's registered with a foreign language site so it's very difficult for them to manage.

Is there any way I can manage all domain names for all countries through one company? It's getting urgent so any help much appreciated.

Thanks for your help,

Jeremy

maybe speednames can help you but its pricing way above market average

.co.kr require local presense

Can a foreigner apply for a .kr domain name?

Foreign corporations or organizations without an office in the Republic of Korea, and foreigners without domiciles in the Republic of Korea shall be denied the right to apply for Registration of Domain Names.

www.jp-domains.com registers Japanese domains in English, and they give you a local presence. Though these domains are far from cheap...

.com.cn doesn't require a local presence, and lot of European and American registrars offer them. You can also register .cn instead of .com.cn by the way, while I doubt if you can have .jp instead of .co.jp

The above summary: .JP domains are limited to people living in Japan.

You may find some companies as if they were an official Japan registry, but the true official Japan registry is JPRS (ttp://jprs.jp/en/) only. Don't be fooled.

In Additon, they may even say that .JP has no restrictions for everyone in the world, but JPRS doesn't say such a thing. .JP domains are limited to people living in Japan. See JPRS FAQ for the details (ttp://jprs.jp/en/regist.html).

how come companies like register.com and others offer .jp registration?

I don't know. Perhaps, I guess they want to make a money if they violate ccTLD concept that is intended to use for their country members. Nevertheless the registry restrict the registration requirements, technically, by subleasing domains, they can offer most ccTLDs (not only .jp but also .us, .de and so on) for everyone in the world. But the customers will be placed on a lawful delicate position because it will be considered as abused action to take advantage of loopholes in the restrictions.
