Hi, I was one step away from getting my rack server from rackshack, when I noticed that point 19 specified no IRC servers.

Is there anybody out there that would offer identical package (price, bandwidth, etc) but allow an IRC daemon to run ?

Its a small IRC network, which is not targetted bt DOS attacks as its quite private, my main use will be as a backend to my IRC -> CGI gateway on my website.

Pillhead,

Checkout lomag.net for IRC shell accounts. They are rather cheap and are amazingly stable. The server my IRCD is on has been up for 111 days. BTW, this would be separate from your web hosting/dedicated rack server.

Check them out.

Hmmph, cheerz for the info, but kikko is no way competitive to rackshack.net.

And yeah, I could run my ircd somewhere else, I do now infact, but I would rather have it all in one basket, rather than making other seperate payments :(

Looks like theres no way round this, if I want teh value that rackshack offer, I gotta take one of there servers and be without my ircd :(

God, why do these company force you to do these things?!?

just wait for rackshack to release their "white box" linux solutions w/ the dedicated 10 Mbit connection. i don't think they care what gets hosted on these machines, since it's a dedicated connection.

You will have difficulties finding providers for ircd's. They attract DoS attacks which no one likes :(
