We have just moved from a shared hosting plan to a dedicated RaQ4. We have a problem with .pdf files. They don't show up?

I have checked mine.types and pdf is listed there. I checked spelling, capatalisation etc. All OK. All the pdf's concerned worked fine on our old server, so I know they are not the problem.

Thanks in advice.

A confused - Paul

post a link to one .pdf on your server

I literally get a page cannot be displayed error, unfortunately they are in a private directory so I cannot post it here, but the spelling etc. is all fine. the name of the pdf I am checking mostly is short 'Comma.PDF'.

If anyone can offer advise, please do!

Then put one in a none protected directory.

I'd this would be odd, since if you mistook the name of the file and the link was incorrect, you'd get a 404 (I wouldn't think you;d get a page cannot be displayed error???)

I will put a pdf in an unprotected file in the morning, at home now.

Chicken, I know this is weird. The file name/path/directory etc. are correct.

Damned frustrating, and I cant seem to find anyone else ever having this error before.

Just wondering... the private directory got me thinking... if you link directly to it now, a login-password box appears eh? What I mean is, maybe the problem is the .htaccess file and not the pdf? You didn't mention if this worked so I'm just throwing it out there as a possibility and to kill off this reason...

Fixed it, I'm an idiot. I'd put a htaccess file there that shouldn't have been.

What a fool I feel
