i set up 2 nameservers using whm, but when i attempted to switch to them on the domain providers site (pair.com) it says i entered an unregistered nameserver
anything that i might be doing wrong?

Was the name server actually registered? More involved then just the few clicks in WHM. Most registrars allow you to register name servers on their site, check where you registered your domain.
