Bogdan 10-31-2001, 10:02 PM My server is down the whole day, and it's located at equinix. I did not receive any notices, and didn't hear anything about this. E-mails and phone calls are not answered. percent5 10-31-2001, 10:08 PM Our server pweb server at equinix went down at about 3 est and is still down at 9. Bogdan 10-31-2001, 10:11 PM Same thing here. Did you receive any notice about this, or it's just me? percent5 10-31-2001, 10:26 PM We got a breif notification a few days ago, but I wasn't sure if the move just applied to us or everyone. Also our server just came online. :) Though I can't say the downtime thrilled me! NVB 10-31-2001, 10:37 PM I did not get the notification. Did the notification say that customers were required to do anything or give out new passwords? My root password doesn't work and my site is showing as screen that says, "ATTENTION! If you are seeing this page instead of the site you expected, please contact the administrator of the site involved. (Try sending mail to <webmaster@domain>.) " Perhaps this is just a generic Apache installation, and my data is in the process of being transferred over. jayglate 10-31-2001, 10:50 PM We did send out an email I am not sure why some people didn't get it. And my office was fully staffed at our toll free # listed on our website, so how a phone call could go unanswered I find that very hard to believe. We have moved all equinix customers into nac. Equinix took very very very long and lied to us about the cross connect being done when we left them at 5pm, they said it was done, we get back to nac and it is down. All servers should be good now, we will have a full port over to nacs network by the end of next week. Any further questions should be directed to unixded@pwebtech.com Thank you. dektong 10-31-2001, 10:56 PM woa ... is this the 100GB bandwith servers deal? If so, moving to NAC should definitely be (much?) better :agree: Good luck to you all ... cheers, jayglate 10-31-2001, 11:09 PM Yes, dektong it is. percent5 10-31-2001, 11:17 PM Thanks Jay. Sounds like you had a long day! Yes...nac should be better. I hope our deal stays the same though :uhh: jayglate 10-31-2001, 11:18 PM As long as your continue this contract the deal will not expire. All incoming traffic is going over our old l3 link backhauled over nacs network. But outgoing traffic is going over nacs network to nacs l3 link. You should see a HUGE speed improvement. JTY 11-01-2001, 01:42 AM Earlier notification would have been appreciated... :) but, all is well now. NVB 11-01-2001, 01:49 AM My server is currently bursting 500-3000 KB/s for downloads. This is a major improvement. Excellent work. Bogdan 11-01-2001, 09:01 AM "We did send out an email I am not sure why some people didn't get it. And my office was fully staffed at our toll free # listed on our website, so how a phone call could go unanswered I find that very hard to believe. " Called around 6pm, someone picked up, asked for unix support, was told: "They are on a meeting call back in 20min" Called back in 20min: "Support tech is taking a call, call back in 20min" Again called back in 20min: "No one is available to take your call" And I'm still having problems. Not to mention my double charge's every month, sent e-mail week ago, still no reply. Nothing new to me. I only see fast replies on WHT, but not when I sent a request or make a call. jayglate 11-01-2001, 02:54 PM I think by the time you called back the second time everyone in unix was helping us remount and go threw the servers making sure they were ok. The long part was waiting for equinix to run the cross connect. That is prolly why nobody was around to speak to you. And yes reponse times on WHT might be different because I dont' do everything here and different depts that have differenet jobs, so one might be slower or faster than others. So what my response time on WHT really has no bearing on anything. ivandollar 11-01-2001, 05:47 PM I understand that pwebtech.com will honor the terms of the contract, but can those of us who have this contract renew at the same $129 after our current contract runs out. Essentially, will I be able to get this $129/m rate for another year, or do I need to look elsewhere for a cheap server? Hope you can help Jay. <<Please note that we prefer that you email support questions directly to your host>> jayglate 11-01-2001, 05:50 PM Even when the contract renews we will honor this price. As long as you keep this contract and keep renewing we will honor it. nox 11-01-2001, 07:50 PM Equinix is a *carrier neutral facility* and just because some 'cross connect' arrangement which was made specifically to help in the move of pwebtech's servers, may or may not have been fulfilled, it does NOT mean that Equinix is a bad place to be... this may not be obvious from this thread, but should be made clear based on the conclusions reached by some people... percent5 11-01-2001, 09:30 PM <edited> Server up. Thanks </edited> felix220 makes a good pt. Though all I can say is that our connectivity did not seem very good when our pweb server was at equinix. nox 11-01-2001, 11:05 PM that is a matter of the actual connection you have, so it's an issue for the provider, not Equinix.. TheRazor 11-04-2001, 11:23 PM I know this is kinda old news now, but in pwebs defense I was well aware of the move and I don't really talk to pweb that much. The only comment I would make was the email gave an idea of what time the outage was supposed to occur but didn't really give the day. The only reason I knew was I had just asked for an update on the move the day before. One last thing: Jay I think it would help if you setup a board for your customers. That is the only thing I think you guys lack as far as support goes. I remembering you mentionin in another thread but I never saw anything materialize, if you need help I will gladly lend a hand with nothing expected in return. Everything else... There has always been a timely response. Downtime has only been minutes if that. Keep up the good work guys..;) dektong 11-04-2001, 11:41 PM Originally posted by TheRazor Jay I think it would help if you setup a board for your customers. I should have taken like 5 servers for that server deal back few months ago ... now I will be able to get 100GB off each server at NAC! :( cheers, JTY 11-05-2001, 12:07 AM NAC is quite a bit faster... :) Although, I think my SSH sessions seem slower.. :( atiep 11-05-2001, 01:47 AM http://support.pwebtech.com akashik 11-05-2001, 10:36 AM Originally posted by dektong Man ... Haven't had a single problem of note in the month or so since setting up there.. After Alabanza (where the main site still is for now), it's been a breath of fresh air.. Greg Moore |
