I am going to start my small hosting biz, but I have no idea on how to accept payments. Do I need to install some third party software? Are they free?

Or a merchant account www.sfcommerce.com ? Dogma 11-01-2001, 08:58 AM Originally posted by wht Are they free? No, far from it... David@Digisurge 11-01-2001, 04:20 PM Instalbill.com used to be free but closed up shop recently. I use a combination of Revecom, Paypal, and regular check/money orders for my clients. Revecom is great for reoccuring payments. They charge a 50 dollar setup plus fees on each order. http://www.revecom.com CrazyHostGuy 11-04-2001, 10:27 AM You can also take a look at www.ibill.com. It's similar to what Instabill.com used to be. Rob M. choon 11-04-2001, 10:37 AM Originally posted by wht I am going to start my small hosting biz, but I have no idea on how to accept payments. Choon Whitaker 11-04-2001, 11:15 AM Take a look at http://www.propay.com HostingDirect 11-04-2001, 11:29 AM Revecom works well but it is a bit expensive on a per transaction basis. If you use QuickBooks they have two merchant accounts that interface with QuickBooks. I converted to that (with wells fargo) a while back and it works great so far. CrazyHostGuy 11-04-2001, 01:21 PM Curt.... That's actually what we use too. Quickbooks with the FirePay system. It's less expensive than any other I've seen, that is of course if you ignore the cost of buying Quickbooks!!! It's also fast. Rob M. MDU Web 11-04-2001, 02:37 PM I have just been using PayPal's subscription program, where they automatically bill my customers each month. However, my volume is getting to a point where I can see that I may be losing customers by only utilizing that option. Now I'm looking at using Revcom, which seems to be one of the best, in conjunction with my PayPal system. MarcD 11-04-2001, 05:56 PM i dont sell resellers but sell a lot online i have foudn what works best for the money for me is i use my bank 10 dollar monthly and 25cent charge for each credit card processed checks are 50 cents there was 500 dollar equipment stuff and i just use a secure script that collects the info and i process it by hand i found like ibill wanted 10% of each sale which is my commision and i average $1,200 dollar sales so that did not work with me also a certificate for verisign costs some money depending on what route you go and who your host is id say your best bet is to talk to your bank and see if they have something they can do. |
