Does anyone know of any facilities for online chat that are similar to Liveperson.com (AKA Humanclick) or LiveHelper.com - which have both now become chargeable services.

We have found the use of Liverperson good but not good enough to justify a $90 a person a month fee!!!

Bravenet's Human Click is still free. But it only allows for one operator at a time now.

This could be the perfect opportunity for a few people to get together to start their own system. Id personally be happy to pay the $200 odd charge for HumanClick if we could have more than one operator.

If somebody wants to start a project like this, I would be happy to do some testing, or anything else I could do to help (i.e. provide some web space for it to be tested on etc...)

If anyone is willing to start something like this, please let me know!

Looks like we have a potential project here, just need someone who knows how to program! :D

We should get a designer to do it and how it would work is everybody can use it and whoever wants to donate money would.

it will be a matter of getting the right people in. Not so much of a money issue. Most of us here have our own servers and all, so testing it out and having it hosted would not be an issue.

As far as programming goes, I think the tricky part is in getting the client portion done. The server side could possibly run of as a webservice of some sort.
