I have a CTR of 0.8% How bad is it?

What's industry standard or average?

With which service?

A CTR of 5 is considered excellent according to the masses (who they are, I don't know, but I retain a lot of what I read).

If you are using banner exchange, CTR of .8 is not terrible, but snazz up that banner and you might get more.

I remember reading the other day that banner click thrus was down to about 0.5% as an industry average. My last banner campaign managed to get a CTR of 0.1%! :(

I think more and more people just get used to ignoring the banners. When they go to a site, they arn't usually there to click and go off somewhere else. I think I've clicked on about 20 banners total the entire time I have had the internet. Most of those are by accident. The ones that seem to work more now are those square ads and the little button ones.

We usually get CTR of 3%-5% on banners and 125x125 buttons.
Little buttons never worked for us, it was always about .5%-.7%

CTR is usually high with targeted audience.

I think direct links is the best way to advertise, because people read content, and do not pay attention to banners etc..
