I just purchased a DB9 to RJ45 Adaptor today at Fry's.
It has 8-colored wires and 9 holes female adaptor ( 4 holes on first row, and 5 holes on second row). 8 colored wires and 9 holes, I huess one hole has to be left alone.
The 8 colored wires are brown, black, blue, yellow, white, green, orange, and red.
Anyone know how to get the right colors into the right holes?

Palm,
Can you tell me the right order?
Which colors in which order should be in row one ( 4 holes)?
Which colors in which order should be in row two ( 5 holes)?
Out of the 9 holes on the female adaptor, which one should be left blank?

Yes MyRack,
I don't have a console cable when I purchase the cisco switch.
Therefore, I need to purchase a DB9 to RJ45 adapter to coonect my RJ45 cable to COM1.
I was searching google.com, but I couldn't kind anything about configuring a DB9 to RJ45 adapter.

I think every DB9 to RJ45 adpater should be pinned according to the hardware that it is being used for. Maybe that is the reason why there is no manual with the DB9 to RJ45 adpater that I purchased at Fry's.
If that is the case, then I should search cisco for the doc to configure the console. The problem is I couldn't find the doc at cisco to configure a DB9 to RJ45 adpater.
I am trying to find a way to configure this DB9 to RJ45 adpater to work with cisco catalyst-xl-en switch.
