I turned in my 2 weeks notice today. I am currently working at a movie theatre, doing web stuff on the side. I've recently got a job offer doing all web stuff.

Kinda nervious, wondering if I'm making the right decision, but it got me thinking.

Are you happy with your job?
What do you do?
How many jobs did you go through to find out what you like?
Are you doing what you planned to do in College/HighSchool?

Just wondering :)

1. meh! I'm good at it and it pays very well so despite being unexciting, I'm happy enough.

2. I'm a systems analyst/developer/programmer at an insurance company.

3. I've had a lot of jobs in the last 30 years. Have been with my current employer 6 years.

4. Computers didn't exist as we know them now when I was in HS, so no. The programming profession has changed dramatically from when I first started (around 1983) but I'm still in the business. My advice is to be flexible and always willing to upgrade your skills.

First of all, Good Luck, sure it will be fine.

1) Yes. I enjoy my job.
2) Hosting (Shared/Dedicated), Web Design, Consultancy. Background is in Advertising Radio & Network Television.
3) Good Amount. Been through about 5, however they have all been in Media and Advertising, so not really swaying that far from the middle.
4) Guess so...Major was Marketing and Minor was Computer Science.

Again, Good Luck -

good luck.

1. yes, operating your own business is the most gratifying job in the world.
2. hosting - colo, dedicated, transit, the whole nine yards.
3. i liked almost all of my jobs, not that i had many. i did some network security stuff for an online brokerage firm when i was 15, english tutoring when i was 14, owned a music/party promotion business from 16 to 18, did a few random jobs when i first moved to the US, did some freelance coding/development, got a software engineering position, then dumped the whole thing and went into business for myself again.
4. i never planned back then, the word 'tomorrow' was not in my vocabulary.

Are you happy with your job?

Yup, all three :)

What do you do?

I am a computer tech for my City, a private web host (only do locals) and a martial arts instructor (owner of business too).

How many jobs did you go through to find out what you like?

I am pretty young, those are all the jobs Ive had other than being a pool cleaner, which sucks out here in the bright and hot AZ sun.

Are you doing what you planned to do in College/HighSchool?

I am in community college doing business management.

Any tech job is better than a no skills needed job. I shows that you are able to think for yourself.

Yea, I really hope my new job works out.

It sounds great. Doing everything I'm doing now but actually getting paid decently for it :)

The hardest part is leaving the people. There is a lot of great people at my old job, not to mention where me and my gf met, so I am still attached.

1) Absolutely, I can't think of a better job. I honestly look forward to going to work in the mornings.. The enviroment is great, my co-workers are great, and I think I have the two best bosses.. I don't say this because we own the forum.. But that I really do love this job...
2) Little bit of everything... I develop, maintain, and a million other things in the office...
3) 4 maybe...
4) Kind of, I've always known it would be computer related, but didn't think I would be doing things like this...

Are you happy with your job?
Web Dev/Programming is a blast. Changing tires gets real boring real quick

What do you do?
I work for a tire store (discount tire co) and do web development, programming and some computer-related consulting.

How many jobs did you go through to find out what you like?
Not sure if I fully like what I'm doing and will probably change career fields several times in the next 30 years.

Are you doing what you planned to do in College/HighSchool?
Studying Network Technologies right now at a local community college and then hoping to transfer to a University and get something related to Business Law or Pre-Law and transfer to a law school. I like working for myself and love legal related stuff, so hopefully I'll end up in Legal Consulting (strictly for Businesses) in the near future..
