After you put up a new server, how do you do a reverse dns?

Firstly, set up a ptr record in your dns, then at the router level add a rDNS to match your ptr settings. some people prefer to have rdns setup and some don't. imho, i prefer to turn it off. :) remarkable 10-29-2001, 10:23 PM To do rev. Is that right ?) .. Unless of course you own you own fibre and routers/switches etc.. Rev. DNS will only work if you are assigned authority over the IP's. I however am proud to say that I DO NOT manage my own backbone, core routes and switches.. I leave that to my upstream provider to worry about. Which leaves me to do more important things.. like care for the customers.
