Hello all.
I am interested in creating an online broker, like etrade.co.uk
I know that the website servers will need to connect to the exchange, but was wondering if their was a third party who could manage the entire platform?
Could anyone help?
I am interested in UK solutions only as I am currently living here.

Unless you are worth millions drop the idea now. I do not know how things go over there but here in Canada to trade securities and that is what etrade does you have to be licensed by the goverment and each person who does trading (which is any securities that pass through you system, regardless of how you word it) have to have $1,000,000 libiliaty insurance, something that is not cheap.
Sorry to bust your bubble but unless you are a multi-millioniare and/or a owner of a bank you will not find a third party solution for what you asked. There are also a long line of other items that you would have to meet to be able to do this also but why waste the time since I am not from the UK and things are a little different over there from here.

The technology behind the site, etc, is not easy. You need to have direct feeds to the exchange, you have to do database tie-ins, migrations, etc. If you have over a million to pump into the site, or to pump into another company to build the site, then it might be viable. Plus, you must maintain it over time, right?

hello.
Thanks for your post guys.
I have done some research:
here in the uk, I have found a company that provides a complete internet trading site for you. In other words, they host and maintain your trading platform, at a fraction of the cost:
http://www.webtradingservices.co.uk/
In terms of securities insurance, here in the uk, only a £50K per person needs to be insured, so it is not that expensive.
It seems that is the only way to go: outsource my trading platform to a third party. I will lose a large customising ability, but at least it will get me on the net. I could in the future create my own platform when I have the money.
There are ways of "not" bursting ones bubble.
Regards.
