A little off the subject, hope you don't mind.

You mean Greg? Just how it looks :D

akashik = ahh-cash-ick

It's a Zen word I hooked onto years ago, eventually becoming the company name. Looking back I might have tried something a little more common place as it's hell to explain over the phone.

Whoa! I always thought it was: ak-a-shik
O-well, it's stuck in my mind now.

Greg,

Akash [pronounced Ah-Kaash ~ kaa like the co in corn~] in Sanskrit means space or sky or firmament. Akashika could probably mean one who is free like the space - or by allusion a realized man...

Another beautiful Buddhist name I love and have used in many places is Tatagata [T pronounced like the 'th' in thick -whole word TaTaagaTaa ~ga like the "gu" in gun~] which in Sanskrit means literally which-way and refers to one who goes where the way/road takes him [again alluding to someone who is free, has no encumberances and lives in the present and takes things as they come]

Many German,Russian & East European words have their etymology in Sanskrit...

Your domain name has a truly exotic flavor to it!

Cheers
Balaji

:) Thanks. It's probably the main reason we stuck with it. It does tend to stick in people's minds, even if it's not the easiest to remember the spelling of.

Sadly I can never remember how to spell it. People ask who designed the hosthideout site and I have to go looking for your name on the forum (which doesn't help as I can't remember how to spell it). Reminds me of how teachers always tell you to look up words you can't spell in the Dictionary, heh. Site should have a link to you anyhow so that no one needs to ask (just realized it didn't).

exactly my point :) It's all good when it's hyperlinked, but off the top of people's heads...

Oh, if you're serious about that link, try http://www.avemedia.com - easier to remember, and the designy end of the business now. :D
