What does everybody think of hostway? I used to use them back in the day and thought they were very good. Do they still remian that good. Also how is there uptime, and does the email usually work?

Since no one's replied I'll throw in that I've used them for over a year for my personal domain.... my main criteria for that domain was not having e-mail probelms (lost, trouble connecting, etc.) which I had had with cheaper hosts and have never had a problem with them to that regard. I can't comment further as I've never used them for a high-traffic or e-commerce site.....

I posted a topic while ago asking opinions on hostway and noone replied. Well, I have been with Hostway since '98 and I never experienced problems or have had any complaints although I strongly believe that a webhost should not charge things that are free ... for example MySQL, PHP, etc.
Apart from that (and that they are a lil bit expensive), HostWay is an excellent webhost with excellent support.

Well I was not paying for the hosting at hostway, but I've helped out some buddies who have their sites there.

Overall they were pretty good. I had a few minor problems.

The site that I was helping out on was basically a message board (php based). Hostway has the MySQL server on a dedicated box (sounds like a good idea). At times things would get really slow on the mysql server. Never got any answers back from support on the slow downs and we could not actually look at things on the MySQL box to see what was going on.

I also really hated that I had to get them to install any cron jobs. The database was the life of the site and it was just a pain to need them to install the cron jobs to back it up.

i dont use them but i have worked on many clients who use hosting threw them
i found them ok. i will say there tech support was great was bout 3 am a few weeks ago and i was updating a site for a client and they had no php, cgi on the site at all and i got an email back within 5 minutes had been done, however the mysql support is leaves to be desired you get 1 free db but any others are $18 a month, =(
and also i was able to root on there ftp and view all the sites hosted on that server was well over 200 note i could not get into these folders but the fact i could see who all was hosted on that server kinda made me wonder.

but overall i give them a thumbs up
