I just noticed that they have pulled ALL of Viacom's stations off the bird. No more CBS... MTV... Nickelodeon... Comedy Central.

Guess it's time to go back to regular cable.

Scumbags.

Viacom wants more $$ from the providers. A cable system in our area is also having a dispute with Viacom and ABC over carriage.

Edit: I also noticed they had that domain for almost 2 months...so Viacom saw it coming.

Might as well make the switch to DirecTV now :)

Who really needs MTV anyway? That alone would be enough for me to actually go with Dish Network. That way no one in my house could actually watch the trash they try to pass off as television programming on my TV's.

However, the whole March Madness basketball thing kind of complicates the issue. :bawling:

I have DirectTV and cable anyway, so no big deal.

I don't know why they still call it MTV...there's no music on it anymore and they're starting to put many more non-music stuff on CMT too.

Even M2, which was supposed to be nothing but music, they are starting to put their lousy programming on.

Between the commercials and lousy shows, I was forced to grow out of MTV 10 or 12 years ago.

I stopped watching when 'real world' came on... That was the period where they just started plopping more and more non-music shows all over, and not even good ones at that.

Though we do have muchmusic here as well as a very nice line of music-only channels via the digital cable co. Works very nicely for parties, particularly if you have a good system attached to said digital box.

Off to turn on MTV to see what I've been 'missing'. ;)

The satellte also has a good line of music-only channels too. DirecTVs are better as many Dishnetwork ones are mono for some strange reason.

I actually have both DTV (digital) which goes though my telco lines, and dish

the only reason we have dish is for the PVR, until our local phone company gets PVR, we will have both

This totally sucks!! I have dish network and been satisfied with the service for the last 2-3 months I had it, I watch some of these channels and I'm not happy they're taking them out!

Viacom/CBS only wanted $0.03 more per customer. Dish Network refused, while at the same time they had rased rates by over $3 per customer.

So who's the greedy one?

The guy that runs the gaming center where I have my office is a Dish Dealer as well. He was telling me about this.

Dishnetwork didn't drop the channels, Viacom took the channels away from them. And it is more than the $0.03 per customer that that website is claiming.

Personally, I could care less, I don't watch those channels. Viacom is asking for more money so they can pay off the fine that Janet & Justin caused them to get.

CNN and SpikeTV are all I need to survive :)

Wouldn't eliminating all viacom channels put DISH at a serious disadvantage?

The increase is something like $2 is what the CEO said on his telechat... - per subsciber or per Viacom channel I dunno??? Well - they offered me $2 back - which is ridiculous considering what I pay and then removing 14 channels, been a customer for years - will give them a few weeks to get this straightened out... after that we'll see

I was watching Navy NCIS on one CBS and the others were out, so oh well, it was still on for me, not sure why. :)

You may not be in one of the Viacom owned CBS markets, most likely a smaller company owns it and has not proposed a rate increase, as was the case for like 87% of the Dish Network customers in regards to the CBS programming, you will still be affected by the outage on the other Viacom owned channels.

Oh yea. Comcast is running a line across the bottom of the screen on a bunch of channels talking about how Dish stopped carrying the channels. I'm glad the dish is on the back of my house or I bet people would be knocking on my door.

They already visited our neighbours that have DishNetwork and offered to install right now and remove the dish for a $400 credit. Also when an HOA agenda has someone asking permission to put a dish up, the cable co will send a representive to talk them out of it, although FCC rules pre-empt any HOA CC and Rs.

We had Comcast and dumped them. DirecTV or ExpressVu (Canada) is the way to go, cheaper and more channels. They (like Comcast)never had problems or disputes Dishnetwork does.
