"crazy" is relative, it would help us if you tell what prices you received and for what specs. It just might be reasonable. ;)

100mb for $10/month
1gb bandwidth

Str

That's what you need... 100 mb space and 5- 10 Gb data transfer?

Str

Most of the hosts have lowest plan starting at $5 - $10 per month...idk but what you say does sounds like a little.

no thats the price i was getting for 100mb

cs_gamer

im looking around 500mb - 800mb with 10gb or more bandwidth
does it cost a hosting company more if i wanted it as a reseller acct?

...and that is a perfectly reasonable price for those specs, from a reliable quality host.

The hosts who quote are those who are Premium members here at WHT and whom have also purchased a Leads Quote subscription. They are all WHT'ers.

Not necessarily - if a host is a reseller themselves, they may not be able to create a reseller account for you.

It might cost you more- but it probably won't 'cost' the host more

i know mediopia.biz, at least, responds to hosts quotes, since i asked for a host quote a few days ago and got a nice reply from them, which included a direct link to a plan that would fit my needs based on what i said i needed.

did you fill in the price field, or did they not have it a few months ago? the response i got fit within the budget i had (which wasn't big) and still had all my requirements, which i admit were modest.

Hosts that purchased "leads" would be able to respond to host quote.

As far as I'm concerned, most of the host that purchased the leads are fairly reputable host, therefore I do not foresee much problem going with any of the hosts that responded to you but don't quote me on that :)

Do some homework before signing up blindly.

true

most fly by nighters would shy away from paying for leads

Also keep in mind that not all hosts who purchared leads will respond to all leads either. There have been several that I just said 'no way' to, and didn't respond to. Like the request forums of olden times, there's a portion of requests that if fulfilled, would cost money to a host rather than earn them money.

Yep same with me. There are alot that are crazy or want tons for nothing requests so only about 50% get answered by me if that. If it has any suspicions of being an abusive spammer or anything I stay away.

The hosts who quote are those who are Premium members here at WHT and whom have also purchased a Leads Quote subscription. They are all WHT'ers.

It has to be noted that Premium members are just regular members that paid for a Premium membership... All WHT registered users can become Premium if they pay for it. Just trying to make things a bit more clear...

Thing is the door is open for anyone to get leads as long as they're preared to pay the required amounts for this ability. Anyone! So, buyer beware!

True, but the scammers and hosts that have no business plan to make themselves profitable will doubtfully pay to advertise themselves.

Just wondering because i did a host quote a long time ago simmilar to this and i got responses from hosts with crazy high prices or limited available resources ;/ I honestly can't see the Host Quotes here being any different than any other Hosting Directory (Like FindMyHosting). If you have the fee, you can get the leads it's really as simple as that.

Just because you get a response from a Hosting Quote at WHT does not guarantee that the Host giving you the response is reputable, been in business for longer than a month or has even been registered at WHT for for any length of time.

I'm not saying that applies to all the Hosts who get the leads here, I've seen some very reputable Hosts here that subscribe to the Hosting Quotes. I am saying that no matter where you get a Hosting Quote from you should still do the research on the host.

Just to emphasize ;)

Any joe blow with some extra cash can get leads, though I'm sure the percentages are skewed against the scammers (not many are willing to pay to scam people).

As always, research, research, research and ask the host detailed questions.

True, but the scammers and hosts that have no business plan to make themselves profitable will doubtfully pay to advertise themselves.

If you see Ads on google and webmaster sites... gisol, ******, ipowerweb, powweb all spend heavily on ads. So, scammers/badhosts do have money in many cases :stickout:

powweb.com is a case in point here - 5gb/day Bandwidth that translates to 150Gb/month. The rest of them just cover ground in bad support and bad services.

[quote]If you see Ads on google and webmaster sites... [quote]

nipl has a point there. It's not just the little guys that scam people, there are also "big hosts" that don't provide what they promise... and they have the money to pay for ads as we all have seen. The web is filled with their banners... They are the dangerous ones...

The way I see it, you are underestimating the "fly by nighters" They can easily purchase a membership, just as anyone else.
