I have a site that wants to add rotating Banner ads for their sponsors - not random banners, or banner trade networks, but for their [non-profit] organization's sponsors. Ideally they want these to come up on virtually all pages of the site, seemingly randomly, but with a weighted number of views. (i.e., "Gold" sponsors get seen 3x, "Silver" gets seen 2x and "Bronze" gets 1x views proportionally.)

Any suggestions? Site has CGI but no PHP/mySQL or db, Red Hat Linux running Apache.

Do a search for webadverts and see if it will do what you need. I have never used but have considered. It is shareware so you can try before you buy.

For what you are looking for WebAdverts is a good choice.

I used it on my old scarsdalenet.com site and displayed up to 50,000 ads a month in a dozen "zones" for a year and a half before I upgraded to Central Ad v4.0 (not recommended at all) in September 1999.

Nowadays I'm using AdvertPro, delivering ads across a dozen sites, but that's overkill for you. And expensive, too.

WebAdverts is well-written and a great script for the price, as are all of Darryl Burgdorf's scripts at http://www.awsd.com. I really like his WebCal calendar script and used that for a year as well and highly recommend it. Now I'm using ActiveCalendar from ActiveWebSuite.com, which is also a great calendar script.
