Can anyone point me to sites or docs that woul help me to learn how to setup and manage my own server so i dont have to pay extra for the support. EnigmaBiz 03-09-2004, 03:54 AM I started with a plain RedHat 7.x running Plesk 5.x now running Plesk 7.0 All / any panels have their ups and downs. All I can suggest is go to Plesk.Com check out the demo and browse around. Very easy to use and simple for the user end. Very easy to install and does not intrude on the existing O/S you are running... I have it running on RH 7.3, RedHat Enterprise 2, 3 and soon Fedora Core 1. Very easy to install as well, I purchased mine awhile back for 199$ for 30 domains. That might sound inexpensive but do your research because Plesk 7 and maybe 8 will come with additional add-ons and they are not free. Read up on the cPanel documentation (if that is the control panel you will be using) and play around with their demo first. Id also get familair with the linux platform, as this will more than likely be the operating system your server will be running. Download a opy of red hat, or fedora, and learn a few of the basics before jumping into a server. Experience is the best way to learn, and learning the theory is only part of the process.
