How does payment processing work?

Most hosting packages do not mention anything about payment processing.

Does anybody know how I can get the following into my sites:

Paysystems.com
Paypal.com

How does it really work?
ie, if a customer pays $X.
How much do I get , $(x-y), where y is what?

hemtah, perhaps if you don't want to help this person you could stay out of the thread.

manubaT, you need to sign up with the payment provider. You then attach a bank account to your provider account.

After your account is set up you incorporate forms of links from your payment pages that will direct the user to your account with the payment processor.

The transaction will be completed on the processors servers and will usually direct the client back to your page.

I ask these questions becuase I need to have a couple of websites up and running in about a week.

hemtah is kind of rude and angry. If we all follow his advice, by implication, WHT need not exist because we can all use Google to find what we desire about hosting, or even better, we can all attend universities to get our info so as not to appear lazy.

I think the webmasters here should warn him/her because he/she is not the only person in the world with the ability to engage in abusive diatribes!

I would suggest looking at other options besides paysystems.

The support is non exsistant with them anymore.

I cant not stress how unhappy we are with them, thankfully we not longer process new clients thru them.

If you are new to payment processing, I would suggest using PayPal because they are very user friendly and have guides on how to install things.

2co.com on the other hand is a little "old" looking. Their payment system is out to date and they need to do some work on it.

Compu, why are you trying to get a refund from PaySystems.

Perhaps a little more research is in order.
I have yet to have any problems with PaySystems.

There will be issues with every payment processor you choose. You just need to go with one that will minimize the problems.

I've used Paysystems for almost 5 years without any trouble. I mean some minor problems, but nothing that couldn't be fixed in a timely fashion.

We use PaYSystems, and their support has been wonderful, to the point where when I submit a ticket or e-mail they call me to discuss the problem.

Go with a true merchant account, its really easy to get done.

We processed hundreds of thousands of dollars thru paysystems. We have been trying to get a issue resolved with them for over 3 months. To this day the issue is not resolved.

Paysystems might be good for a small company but dont expect them to perform when your account grows, they will not be able to serve your needs.

I wish we would have started with a true merchant account as we have now.

you might also want to look into a billing software (depends on your application). Many billing software packages have a Gateway to many of the popular payment processing systems built into them.

*Note* These are just gateways you would still need a account with the respective company.:)
