Hello,
I just wanted to know how hard it is to get customers in the webhosting business, which I have been told is overcrowded - however a growing market. Hoping for some responses. - Does anyone have some good idead on how to market the business on a low budget (can't afford the $25.000 on altavista!)

Best regards
John

Err... I am not very sure since I just started as a reseller about a month ++ back. However, I have hosted 13 accounts to date. A few of them are from WHT(3), FWS (1) and others (9).

Under others, I didn't give any special deal to my customers ;)

Hope this sales *stats* can give you some ideas ;)

Choon

Thank you Choon. The get quick fast schemes out there doesn't work for most (99.9% downtime!). It usually takes time, and efforts, to build up any business. It would be interesting to get an impression of the succes/failure rate in this business. I have not been able to find any figures elsewhere. Hope that enough people chooses to vote so that it can be reliable.

Best regards
John

Hello John,

What do you mean by "The get quick fast schemes out there doesn't work for most (99.9% downtime!)."?

Thanks ;)

I just meant that there are so many plans that promise people to earn money quick doing nearly nothing. Noone gets rich except those that sells their plan. Ordinary work, commitment and patience is mostly required to obtain results, regardless of type of products. One of my friends, for instance, started as a seller of clothes. He only made about $1500 the first year, and were off course very dissatisfied. But he continued. Today he has a Mercedes Benz and says that he would never have been able to earn that much as an employe. - I think that's a significant factor for getting succes. Some people continues, and continues, some stay down when they fall etc.

Best regards
John

Hello John,

If you are referring to my site referral program... it already stated clearly that the program is not a get rich quick scheme and I never promise anyone that will get rich quickly by signing for my hosting service. This program is just a small reward for my customers that refer others... that's all :)

BTW, please use the reply button to reply and not the new thread button ;)

Thanks :D

I don't think there's much to 'averages' when it comes to sales businesses. Maybe if you do the average thing, put up a web site (looking only average), submit to a couple directories (30 million other hosts listed there), wait for the money to roll in... then yes, you would probably benefit from a poll like this.

If you hit it hard, then you'll have above average results.

Hi Choon,
No I'm not at all talking about hosting or reselling - but you know there are so many plans out there - many of them without a real product. Reselling hosting packets are not one of them. This is a real (honorable) product. As long as we understand each other.;)

Hello Chicken,
My background is in business economics, so stats/polls etc. have always been interesting/usefull to me. I agree that a poll with only a single question would never not very usefull. Furthermore to make it representative it would require much more votes to be given, that I'll expect here. It was just out of quriosity that I used the poll option.

Best regards
John

Yep... a lot and everyday there will be new ones popping out :(

Most of them - *empty promises*

Especially for most of the downline clubs that tell you will earn so on and so for within certain time... they ask you to pay first for their product after joining using the word FREE to join... blar blar blar... yikes

Well... get back to our life and work :stickout

Maybe I need to learn better English. After all I'm talking in a foreign language and often I miss the right words to use, and sometime use not so common words etc. And as you said: back to business :stickout
