depends on your needs for hosting. there's a ton of good posts on WHT, just search around for a bit and you'll find some good advice/ideas/hosts/websites.

http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=10823&highlight=hosts

are just two of the many posts about different hosts.

http://www.rackshack.net/ seems to be the WHT board's favourite however. and for good reason, the amount of bandwidth, service, and support they offer is great for the price.

http://www.4webspace.com/ as seems to be another contender.

http://www.webhosters.com/ might help you out as well.

i use http://www.serverrack.net/ and have been extremely happy with their performance, service and support so far. but, it's only been a month, so don't take my word for it quite yet.

however, you can't beat the price or the $100 setup. they also offer a one-time upgrade fee from 128mb --> 512mb ram. if they offered a bit more bandwidth and IP's, they'd be ideal.

in my opinion of course.

What do you want with your server.
You want to host your own sites ?
Are you gonna host customer sites ? How much support do you need ? How's your budget ? Do you want to run your own DNS ?

I have raq's at 4webspace and Rackshack, and they have both good and bad points.

My experiences:

If you want online help (IRC), real friendly support, replies with more then 2 words to your questions, a Raq 4, 300mb datatransfer go to Rackshack.
I've heard people having troubles with their DNS though (you can run your own), and my raq was over 3 days offline because "there was noone at the NOC" at the moment (now thats enough reason to NOT go to Rackshack if you want to host demanding customers, but i've heard they solved this). They have the best ping times and fast speed.

I host my clients at servers at 4webspace.
The ping times from europe suck (at least for me from the Netherlands) you can't use their DNS for .nl sites anymore (since last week, still haven't found out if that is because of them or because of SIDN).
The "Online Support room" is a joke, you'll find nothing more there then a fast manual reboot (wich can be handy).
I also think their support staff is a bit overworked, or they have put my files in the drawer labeled "annoying customers", but you'll ALWAYS get a answer, although it might not always be what you hoped for :) .
But for some reason the idea is set in my mind that their support will be there when i really need it.
The price for a raq 3 is great ! you pay one a time fee for memory updates wich is great ! 100Gig datatransfer a raq is more then i hope i ever need for 1 raq.

If i still haven't bored you away :) :These are only my personal experiences, if you do a search at this board you'll find lots more to read.

Good luck !
