I'm looking for any opinions on webmail scripts people have used. In particular any that don't require IMAP (cpanel & IMAP seem to conflict), get pop mail and allow html e-mails to be read. I really wanted to use squirrelmail, but the whole IMAP requirement on it kind of killed that one. The default neomail is like a thorn in my side. I hate it and from the developer's page I don't exactly get that nice warm feeling (more like ice knives in the back).
IMP is on my list so far, but new stuff is out all the time so I thought I'd just pop in a post and see if anyone has opinions on any others.

have a look at UebiMiau (http://www.uebimiau.sili.com.br) and Popper (http://ractive.ch/popper/index.php).. i haven't used either but we have a client running Uebimiau and it looks like a decent script... i've heard alot of good things about Popper from two friends that are using it. worth checking out, arr.. i am so annoyed that cpanel won't support IMAP.. a big thorn in my side each time a client requests it and i have to tell them, "sorry we don't support IMAP" :bawling:

Thanks, I'll give popper a try. :) I'm using the unpronouncable one for my mom right now and it's ok, but a bit on the slow side.

I use uebimiau... seems to work fine for me.... I disabled some "folders" and the ability to store the emails on my servers.. so all they can do is go in check mail and reply / send.
I think I've seen popper in the past... but for some reason I didn't like it... maybe too much graphics, or maybe because it stores stuff in the server (address book etc).

If you get Popper installed, keep us (me) up to date on what you think of it. What exactly is in squirrelmail that you like?

I'm not exactly sure, it's just one of those scripts that always manages to be just out of reach for the systems I'm on. I have a thing for rodents too. A long time ago when I was looking for a webmail script it just kind of "Appeared". What I think I'm going to do is go through oen by one seeing which one the people that will be using them like. I'm probably too picky and it saves time if I just let them go through and if it's missing something simple I can just add that in.
