With all the moaning people do about Netscape around here I think it's about time IE took responsibility for it's flaws.
I have been developing a system for a client using PHP/MySQL and SSL... which is proving to be a deadly combination in IE.
In Netscape everything runs like a dream (even in older versions) in IE 6 (or 5 for that matter), I get these completely random "Page can not be displayed errors." They are really messing with things because if one happens to come up during a time when data is being sent, then we're REALLY screwed.
I've checked the web for fixes, tried modifying server files, upgrading browsers, tried the "make sure the SSL boxes are check in settings" suggestion that Microsoft gives you (they were). Still the error.
The only other thing I've read that is supposed to help is that it may be caused by low system resources (I do tend to have a dozen or more windows open at a time + other programs). I'm going to try testing it tomorrow with just one window open and see what happens.
Even if it does fix the problem, shouldn't a good browser be able to function with multiple applications running? I mean, I know Netscape has it's display issues, but at least they can be fixed. This is driving me NUTS!
Ok... thanks for letting me vent everyone... I feel a bit better now. :) I'm going to get some sleep. If anyone has any other ideas on how to fix this problem, feel free to share.
Night,
Andrew
