Hi, someone really nice :) just offered me free hosting in exchange of advertising on my site.

He just configured my ftp account, and now he asks me to fill the order form http://nirmani.net/hosting/virtual/order.php?plan=NV3 but just to fill the first step, so that he can have my name, adress, etc, for his client list.. And not to do the second step: PAY.

I was wondering if you thought this was safe, could he make me pay for anything?
I'm not saying this webhosting company is bad, because they have been really nice and professional to me so far :). But i just want to make sure, because i don't know all the laws about this really well...

If you don't give him any payment info, then the worst he can do is try to mail you a bill. If he does this, then you of course don't pay it, and make sure you keep the e-mail records of him telling you that it would be free. Not the greatest proof, but better than nothing.

I wouldn't be too skeptical though, because this deal you are talking about is pretty common. It costs alot to advertise, so if the site is getting the right type of visitors, and enough of them, then it is well worth it for a webhost to give you free service in exchange for the ads. We do this ourselves when the situation is right.

If you are really worried about him sending you a bill in the mail, then just give him fake contact info. lol
