How can I use the refund feature in paypal to refund only the price of the item and not shipping and handling?

I do not want to SEND them paypal money because they would loose 3% from paypal fees.

I need to use the refund feature. Any idea if that's possible? If not, what do you suggest?

What is determining the shipping cost on this page? Shipping should be $4.85 ish but is coming out as $6.06 when you add to cart. I don't see anything in the Paypal code that specificies shipping. Anyone familiar with this paypal cart stuff?
