I just installed windows 2003 advanced server and when I try to access http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com it returns the error below:

The URL is added as a trusted zone.

Any suggestions on what I might be doing wrong?

To to install the MS high Encryption Patch.

The error you gave can be caused by a number of things, java etc. but a reinstall of the patch helped me.

If you can try loging into a sftp site. I couldnt before i reinstalled the Patch.

Is your date/time correct?

Time and Date, and make sure there is a language specified in IE. Sometimes this does not happen by default and will cause windows update not to work.

theres an option about ssl I believe in advanced options of IE. There are a lot of different things that make this happen. First try adding ms as a trusted site. and it will be good to check your advanced options. I can let you know exactly what we had to do later on today if you dont get it fixed.

Where can I download the MS Encryption from? The only one I see at http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/downloads/recommended/128bit/default.asp is for Explorer 5.01. Windows Server 2003 comes with Explorer 6.0.3790 as default.

Yes the language is set to English within the Internet Explorer settings.

I finally got the windows update error working. For some strange reason I also had to add the following to trusted zones:

http://microsoft.com
https://microsoft.com
http://download.microsoft.com
https://download.microsoft.com

Even after adding those, windows update would still not work if I went to START then Windows Update, but did work if I just typed http://windowsupdate.micrsoft.com in the browser
