View Full Version : Am I dreaming? Does anyone offer this type of service?

Hello All,
I have been viewing the posts here for quite some time now and figured i would pull myself from the shadows and finally throw a post up, here goes........

All of the re-seller plans that I have seen want the reseller to do the billing and provide the tech support for the accounts they set-up.

I do not have a problem with the billing, but I want NO part of the technical side of keeping the machine up, running, and secure.

Can anyone refer me to a extremely competent provider that will provide this type of service??

I prefer to have a server that is totally dedicated to me and my clients. I have a few sites that I would put on this server and the remainder of the resources would be there for future clients. My current sites use around 20-25 gigs of transfer total. I will need a host manager for the server so I can set-up accounts, suspend/delete accounts, and park domains (this is the extent of what I want to do from a technical standpoint.)

I am not necessarily looking for the cheapest (although money is always a factor in business)... I want the best. Also, I would prefer a company that has reliable 24/7 phone tech support.

If anybody has any suggestions, please shoot me an e-mail or a reply............ Thanks!

"Tech support" is about as logical as "military intelligence". A better term would be "luser support". Any host for whom you resell should take care of keeping their server(s) running; you, as the reseller, would be responsible for teaching your users how to use FTP, etc.

I know when I first started out (which will be our target client), it was refreshing to know that someone was there to answer silly questions even when I was on a binge at 2am.

Although the questions they will have will mostly be things like FTP, setting up e-mail and such.... I just don't want any part of it. I intend to provide a extensive help section that will reduce these occurances, but all the same.......I can handle the billing, just want no part of tech calls and e-mails, but I want my clients to have good tech support....when they need it......even for the little things we see as silly. Thank you for your reply.

The whole idea behind host selling their accounts cheaper is that they won't have to deal with the billing and customer support. If you don't want to deal with tech support, then I suggest you get a dedicated server and only sell reseller accounts. That way, the people that resell for you will have to take care of billing and support. All you have to do is manage the server and bill your resellers once a month.

(and of course provide support for your resellers...)

http://webaxxs.net/ or http://olm.net/ (same company) offers this and I've seen at least one host from here advertise something like this in the Special Offers Forum, but cannot recall who.

Brian

Could someone please tell me what's the definition of "silly questions" ? and where is the line between "silly questions and "smart questions"?

Is this question "silly"??

Let's get philosophical.
There are no silly questions, only silly answers.

Thanks for the input...... I will keep checking the posts. Please feel free to send any more suggestions as I probably won't choose a solution before I look into a few different options and check them out.

Thanks again.....
