Sorry for the confusion. This is actually because of where the server was hosted. (See this thread for more information: http://webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=17635 )

I'm getting a brand new PowerEdge 1550 sent to me, and I'm going to set it up at a local datacenter (to do this the right way).

Sorry for the delay. I'll post here when the server is back up, along with the specs of the server it'll be hosted on, and the specs of the new data center.

Thanks,
Dan

I sign up an account with them and was happy playing around with it and testing the many Linux commands. But last week everything ended and I couldn't login using Telnet to my account.

Any way I received an email from them explaining the problem and they will be refunding any monies paid. When they have the new server setup, all former clients/accounts will be offered a free six months. Hehe, I look forward to that and I hope they will honour it as promised.

No problem. :-) The server ship date is November 14th. I should be getting it shortly after that. I anticipate taking about a week to get the provisioning system back up, and getting www.cagedtornado.com setup. I'll be emailing previous clients first -- to let them take first crack at the new datacenter. I'll also post something here when it's all ready -- along with another special offer for you folks.

to fill in more i believe Cagedtornado were with ACSdatanet which just disappeared off the face of the earth basically.

I hope that the new provider can beat clint.

Thanks for clarifying. :-)

The new datacenter has:

-Redundant power grid connections
-Diesel generator backup
-Biometric security to enter the premises
-Security cameras
-Automatic Fire supression equipment
-Power conditioning
-5 redundant fiber connections (over 5 different Internet connection providers) providing 1 gigabit of transit capacity -- expanding to 5 gigabit of transit in the next few months
-Constant air temperature
-Constant air humidity
-A 100% uptime SLA
-Here is the URL http://www.puregig.net/colocation.htm

Also:

-It's 30 minutes away from me
-I'll have access to the facility, myself
-This will never happen again

Thanks,
Dan

I'll be sure to post here when we're back up and running. We should be back up and running by Thanksgiving -- and I'm VERY sorry for the delay.

(We're waiting for a PowerEdge 1550 from Dell -- it's not going to ship until Nov 14th... unless you know someone with enough pull to get it shipped before then -- which would be worth a year's free hosting, of course <grin>)

Thanks,
Dan

So what's the status of this stuff Dan.

I too would like to play with a FreeVSD account, and it looks like you are up and running at least :).

Thanks for asking! I was going to post a new special sometime this next week, but I suppose this is as good of a time as any to let you in on the details.

We've got a new PowerEdge 1550 at a brand new datacenter in downtown Phoenix, AZ. We are up and running, and we just put the finishing touches on our provisioning system this past week.

We're considering offering managed colocation services in the datacenter we're currently in.

We're also considering offering a more high-end set of virtual dedicated services -- one that would allow you to run a Windows 2000 virtual dedicated server or virtual dedicated Linux servers that are so flexible you could actually reconfigure your own kernel.

Would there be interested in something like that here?

Keep your eyes peeled for a new special this next week, and feel free to stop by http://www.cagedtornado.com to check out our plans.

I had the same problem, Telnet, Ftp, CP not working. I contacted Dan and after a few emails giving the detail errors, everything works perfect now. Phew! Thanks Dan for your excellent work in solving/fixing the problems, guidance and patience with me:) I appreciate it very much.

I had no problems at all with the cpanel, etc. My only prob is mysql via telnet/ssh. Perhaps the normal way is not the way to log in here? I dont know. I sent in a ticket hopefully I get it all resolved soon.

Yep all taken care of quickly! Thanks!

Will there be a web based ticket system implemented? A support forum?

Or will all support be via email? I have an extra license for deskpro.com software if you are interested in it.

Congrats on a job well done thus far!

CagedTornado

Both are very good suggestions -- and yes, we've considered them both. We'll most likely implement a web-based support forum in the coming weeks (vBulletin or something similar).

We've considered using a web-based ticketing system (and deskpro seems nice) but we might just 'extend' the capabilities of our current ticketing system to also use the web.

Thanks for the feedback!
