View Full Version : More Motherboard Confusion

I know it's another post about motherboards, but I need your useful help again!

I've been recommended by someone on this forum to get the Asus P4C800 Deluxe (http://www.dabs.com/uk/productView.htm?quicklinx=2J4Y) , and that was the mobo I was about to buy. Reading reviews, I found the 'upgraded' version of this, the Asus P4P800 Deluxe (http://www.dabs.com/uk/productView.htm?quicklinx=2M8M) .

I'm puzzled, because the newer and 'upgraded' version is cheaper. It also seems to sell a lot better. Is there any reason for this?

So which should I go for, the Asus P4C800 Deluxe, or the Asus P4P800 Deluxe, can anybody help!?

Hi Jonathan:

I believe you have some of your information mixed up...

The Asus P4P800 Deluxe is an upgraded version to the Asus P4P800 without Deluxe, but not the P4C800 (which is why the P4C800 is more expensive than the P4P). The P4P also has more reviews because it's been out way longer than the P4C.

The difference between the P4P and P4C is the Intel chipset which the P4P has an Intel 865 chipset, and the P4C has the newest Intel 875 chipset. You best be doing research on the difference between the Intel chipsets than the motherboards. To me, I would never be able to tell the difference in speed and so forth between both of them.

And to clarify what the deluxe means in both P4P and P4C: Firewire support and further RAID support.

Hope this helps. I have a P4P800 mobo and it's been a nice investment! Good luck!

Kind regards,

Thanks Nich, I agree, I was confused!

That's just what I was looking for though, you've cleared a lot up.

I am still finding it very difficult to find a motherboard though. Have you heard anything positive about the abit ic7-g ?

Has anyone got any tips or recommendations on what to choose - I realy am finding it difficult!?

Thanks again.
