Anyone can make a report to Spamcop (or any other spam reporting watch dog group). I know from first hand contact with them SC doesn't give a hoot about the validity of such claims of misuse of their service (If it wasn't true they wouldn't have reported it! is their attitude).
Maybe VDI getting too many false claims that were using up time and resources?

prob true, theres many hosts and backbones out there that have started rejecting spamcop requests because they are just to busy managing their network or they decided on other ways to stop the spammers...

Spam cop in themselves are spammers.
They have users that go to forums and spam the hell out of hosts. It is rediculis.
You get tons of spam from them, and they say they are complaining.
Spam cop is the WRONG way to complain.
My Proof:
we received 187 reports one day, well over 200 the next day, and over 200 again the third day...
All this from some stupid member of theirs that is too stupid to opt out of an opt in mailing list of a customers of ours' newsletter.
I even talked to the spam cop owner over that ordeal,,, he didn't seem to care...
I begain rejecting anything from them at that point.
That doesn't mean we condone spam... we don't. If I catch a spammer, his site is deleted without notice, because it is BOLD in our terms, and on every page of our site. However, I won't be spammed by alledged anti spam places either.

We actully keep on top of spam complaints, and contact our users within 2 hours of user complaints.
We are tired of users making complaints about a spam, not revealing thier identity. The Spam cop system is just very annoying. at times it just clogs the abuse or noc mail, sales and others like Billing.
We even specified to only email abuse@vdi.net, even, i know most here block it now since it is so rediculas, With all the hosting companies here end to end, there are about 450,000 domains.
I`m sure you can see what spam cop can do.
VDI does not "ignore spam"

Many, many hosts block complaints from Spam Cop, and I stopped using it for that reason and do my own research and file my complaints individually, and not anonymously. VDI has always been very responsive when I've sent them a complaint about spam coming from their network.

They are becoming somewhat as annoying as the spam itself. It's almost as bad as the pop-up window trying to sell you software to stop pop-up windows.

Of course, your customer had proof that this person opted-in to receive this newsletter in the first place?
