What are you trying to do exactly? DesElms 02-27-2004, 07:39 PM Originally posted by rural_cdn Anyone have any experience with these ppl? www dot myvirtualcard dot com A few words to the wise: Firstly, I note that the web site pretty much displays nothing but the same page over and over again no matter which link you click on across the top of the page. I could be wrong, but that's probably not a good sign. Secondly, the company is in Gibraltar. That, in and of itself, may not necessarily be a red flag. But if you're in the U.S., good luck suing them if they should fail to pay you, etc. Thirdly, and lastly, the basic service they offer, while interesting, seems (and I stress the word "seems"... I may be misunderstanding it) to rely on the phone line of the purchaser being open and available to receive the confirmation call during the transaction. That's terrific for purchasers that are broadband users (i.e., the are connected to the Internet via a cable modem connection, or a DSL connection, etc.), but dialup users will probably be unable to receive a phone call because their phone line will be busy since that's the method they're using to connect to the Internet. And despite what broadband providers would have you believe, the vast majority of Internet users in the world are still using dialup connections -- still way over 70%. So unless you want to cull from the heard of potential customers some 70% of all Internet users, I'd say this product isn't for you. Just my opinion, mind you. rural_cdn 02-28-2004, 10:41 AM Thanks. I was just curious really. |
