View Full Version : What's going on with VDI????
holnamusa 10-23-2001, 04:16 AM What's up with this former very good company?!?!?
All the time routing problems. No answers to helpdesk tickets. No answer to urgent pager message.
Does anybody have some serious information what Bill and his guys trying to do?
Hol
dektong 10-23-2001, 04:32 AM What routing problem? Can you please elaborate? My server seems to be fine ther, and I really want to know what sort of problem VDI is having right now since I am about to send my other servers there ...
Contact me in private if you would feel like.
cheers,
alchiba 10-23-2001, 07:31 AM Funny, I was just thinking about VDI and how I haven't seen them mentioned here in months.
mahinder 10-23-2001, 03:06 PM i also have some servers at vdi.net noc's but haven't noticed any problem. please tel me more. i am getting worried .
mpope 10-23-2001, 03:27 PM Here's another "me too". I have a server at VDI, and have not seen any significant downtime for around 5 months now.
Maybe this is something I should ask VDI directly, but have any of you guys heard anything about their private GIG circuit that they were going to build over the summer ? I read something about this last may, but haven't heard anything since.
Thanks!
William 10-24-2001, 08:21 PM We have not had any network issues at all the last 5-6 months, and if you did a Emercency pager call back "unless you are not a client" we always call.
Let me know who you are and what you are refering too, also are you a VDI client or client of a client.
As far as everything else, I have seen nothing but people growing and sending servers, all the major clients seem extremly happy.
If we are doing something bad feel free to let us know, We recently loss a staff member, who passed away, we have been reorganizing the work this person was doing.
We should be 100% again this weekend.
dektong 10-24-2001, 08:36 PM William, are these jobs opening only for on-site employer? I'm interested :D :D
PS: deepest condolensce for the passing away of John
cheers,
William 10-24-2001, 08:55 PM Depending on the "what you are applying for" it can be on or off site.
Chicken 10-24-2001, 08:57 PM *Ahem* We have a Job Requests/Offers Forum and a Special Offers Forum please Mr. Bill. :D
William 10-24-2001, 09:04 PM Did you know Chicken could kill you in a single slither of a bone.
Don`t mess with the chicken :)
I`ll put together something for that, thanks never saw that section before. :) Thanks Mr Chicken..
Ironlung 10-24-2001, 09:21 PM We have a server with them that has about 300 accounts on it and not one of those clients have mentioned any major downtime in the last 5 months. VDI is still a very good "company" had some growing pains but that was over a long time ago.
Synergy 10-25-2001, 12:47 AM <--- Satisfied at VDI as well.
mpope 10-25-2001, 02:59 AM I am convinced that VDI is one of the best colo-hosting companies (after being with them through the hard times, and seeing how quickly they recovered).
I am completely 100% satisfied with them, and would recommend them to anyone (and no, I do not work for VDI :) ).
But... I still have that question about the GIG circuit! William, are you guys going to build the circuit???? I really think you should, as it would be VERY cool (and would probably give you way more options for bandwidth providers...).
If you don't want this aired in a public forum, I apologize, and you can send me a PM or an email about it (you guys have my email address! ).
I really would like to thank you guys for the past 6 months of great service! Keep up the good work, and I'm sure that you'll recieve a ton of more customers!!!!

hostpolicia 10-27-2001, 06:21 AM i am amazed these guys are still in business! i thought they lost most of the large clients months ago. i know one of my hosts, one of their largest clients, left them this past weekend. i don't know how they are managing to pay for two oc3 lines when they lost site5, venturesonline, burstnet, wizardshosting, jaguarpc, and now liquidweb. the porn must pay alot of bill's bills. sure can't be a line of people waiting to sign up for their webpanel crap. boy am i glad i don't have to use that anymore.

What kind of message is this? I'm not a VDI customer, but was nonetheless reading with much interest this thread about what seems to be 'a decent colo host', when I saw your message. What is this? You throw in a lot of names, do you have proof of any of this? And do you really have the feeling that your writing here will seriously damage anyone's image?
Man I'm so tired of rebels without a cause...
William 10-27-2001, 10:09 AM hostpolicia is Burst, look at his track record..

There are more users using webpanel then Cpanel, due to the politics VDI is now a Cpanel Distributor, You now can use Darkorb Cpanel or the Webpanel when located at VDI.

What do you consider to be large, when they have more then 4 servers ??? also many people sign up for webpanel without even advertising, 20 to 30 a month externals, and we get at least 10 server orders a weeks "no advertising"
You need to get your facts in place :)
HostingDirect 10-27-2001, 01:18 PM William,
When will there be further developments/releases of Webpanel? We have heard lots about upcoming releases of both Cpanel and Webpanel and we are all still waiting to see both.
Thanks!

I don't favor such comments which may heart reputation of vdi or any other hosting company
how can you say weather they have money or not. how can you claim they are not able to pay bills etc.
you should not through image of any company like this because you are also web host and you also run a company.
you must understand many people use this forms to take there decisions and this kind of useless post may put confuse them while taking there decisions.
BurstNET 10-27-2001, 04:40 PM << I don't favor such comments which may heart reputation of vdi or any other hosting company >>
Although we have no good sentiments at all towards VDI, and may agree/wonder about the statements this individual has made, it really was pretty harsh. I would hate to have such stated about our company, as we all know how defensive I get when individuals, as such, state things about BurstNET.
<< hostpolicia is Burst, look at his track record.. >>
I know VDI and BurstNET have had our differences in the past, and we publicly vented about such after our breakup many months back,(we had a right to at the time...considering what we went thru...), BurstNET has moved on with our lives. Our company is growing by leaps and bounds, and our service is improving daily to the point where we feel we have almost recovered from those days when we used to co-lo at VDI. We feel that all we need to do is keep providing good service, and a great product offering, and we will continue to take clients away from our competitors. What you are suggesting William, I am quite offended by, is not our style of doing business.

Although I personnally have my share of bad feelings towards Burst since my experience with them, I must add that, from what I've read here, Sean can be quite hot-headed, but I really can't think of him doing anything any worse than simply overreacting to some comments. I agree that accusing him of doing this can be a somewhat trashy comment as well.
William 10-27-2001, 07:24 PM Lets be open minded here.
look at all the postings from hostpolicia :
Let me know what your think...
Tetraboy 10-28-2001, 02:22 AM Okie Dokie....
After looking at his posts, I must say that to me a web host customer who is NOT biased and is a 3rd party person..... , hostpolica looks like a burst(tm) troll.... I'm not saying that hostpolicia IS burst(tm) or is even an employee or friend, by NO MEANS am I saying that. But hostpolicia seems to hate qwest and VDI, and love burst, again I'm accussing Burst(tm) of nothing, just that to me hostpolicia looks like someone who comes mostly to protect burst and harm vdi.
HRBrendan 10-28-2001, 02:26 PM We run a bunch of servers out of the VDI NOC and have had no connection problems or otherwise within the past 5-6 months. Not only that but reboot times and setup turnarounds on new servers have improved greatly as well. As for that other account being a burst troll, it does look that way from here but it could just be a very dedicated customer?
;)
