Is it just me or is it horribly impossible to do anything over the internet lately? It's worse than a snail. I may as well just run the Comrades Marathon.

At international student tuition fees? A dedicated 100Mbps line from Cogent would be cheaper than my shared line here.

Actually... I would be going to school with Out of State fees... I have to live here for a year to get resident tution rates.. (Moved to Florida in June from Michgian).

Even though I could go to school for free with finanicial aid...

but I couldn't afford a 100Mbps line... I wish... *sniff*

Neither could I -- I'm only here because the UK government is paying all my tuition fees for me (plus a generous living allowance).

Nice!
I would be going to school for free because we (my husband and I) don't make enough money to be able to use to go to school. So we don't have to contribute anything... the gov't pays it all..

The only reason why I'm not back to school is because my husband works fulltime -- and I don't have anyone to watch my 20 month old son -- and can't afford a babysitter or daycare.

And classes over the internet cost too much (at least for schools around here)...

I know a few mothers who are going to school. I am told that generally if the state will pay for school, they will pay for daycare also. At least here in Texas they do. The bad part of it is that they only pay for day care up to (I think) 6PM. All they have to do is turn in a reciept from their babysitter, and the state sends the babysitter a check for the amount. Pays pretty good too, I think it was like $30/day per kid. Hmmm, I wonder how many kids I could stuff in a closet all day? Anyone know how much it would cost to soundproof a 5x10 closet well enough to keep about 20 kids muffled all day? :D

Come to the netherlands and see how we do it. The more kids you have the more money you get ;-)

Hehe, same thing in Sweden. They give you grants left and right, specially if you're a single mother with children. They even pay us to study :D

Actually, they'd have to be from the state of Florida -- that is... If I want to get in-state tuition fees. Anywhere else, the fees would be about 3 times as much.

Actually, I wouldn't be getting money from the state gov't... I would be getting money from the federal gov't. FAFSA is where I would be getting my aid (aka Pell Grants, etc). Those that get money from the state are usually the ones that quality for other state benefits (aka medicaid, etc). And that we don't quality for (make too much money for that, and too little for regular insurance). But usually the state gov't will pay for day care, only if you're an active case with social services -- at least here in Florida and also in Michigan it was the case as well.

And in order to get decent $$ through a Pell Grant (Fed. Gov't), I would have to be enrolled at least part time. aka around 2=3 classes or 3 credits each.

Anyways...
That's my 2 cents... any others? :)

It's called a scholarship.

Anyway, I paid enough tuition fees while I was doing my first degree.
