Craig 02-25-2004, 08:48 AM Do you mean something like the following; http://www.brainstorm.co.uk/uk_std_code_search.htm you place in the area code and it will give you the locations of it.. Hope that helps anyway :) Craig brendandonhu 02-25-2004, 08:53 AM I think reverse phone directories are illegal in the UK. rghf 02-25-2004, 09:03 AM Try 192.com, they use to do it Rus Bright-Byte 02-25-2004, 09:24 AM Originally posted by Craig Do you mean something like the following; http://www.brainstorm.co.uk/uk_std_code_search.htm you place in the area code and it will give you the locations of it.. Hope that helps anyway :) Craig Thanks Craig, however what I need is something that I can enter the complete phone number and the results shown will be the name and address that the number goes with. Originally posted by brendandonhuI think reverse phone directories are illegal in the UK.I had a feeling that might be the case. Originally posted by jvdsTry 192.com, they use to do it Tried them, don't think they do it any more. Thanks guys but does anyone else know for sure if it's possible or illegal in the UK? rghf 02-25-2004, 09:49 AM Have you tried putting the phone number into google? Rus Shrill 02-25-2004, 11:29 AM There is a product known as "UK-Info Disk" by ICD Publishing that should do what you need. H-U.net 02-25-2004, 12:23 PM There was a Russian product available a few years back that did this. The name of which escapes me now. Obviously, this version would be fairly defunct now with the number changes that have occured in the past few years in the UK. Having said this, it is illegal in the UK. Kevin Joseph_M 02-25-2004, 12:28 PM Why don't you try calling it to find out? If its an 0208 number and you at least know their surname, then I'll find out for you! Joe Bright-Byte 02-25-2004, 12:48 PM :) Thanks guys for all your input, just to clarify this is not just for one number we want to use this as part of our fraud screening, so it will be something we will be using a lot and it realy needs to be reverse look up so we can tie the name and address to it, so simply calling the number would not provide us with the info we requirer as the person on the other end could say they are any body at any address. Thanks Shrill, that is the type of thing we need however it realy needs to be live/dynamic so it is up to date. brendandonhu 02-25-2004, 12:59 PM Its illegal, don't try. Joseph_M 02-25-2004, 03:40 PM just look at the number codes, you can tell where its from, e.g. 0207 -> Central London 0208 -> Greater London etc azurehost 02-25-2004, 05:38 PM It is definately ILLEGAL, who would have privacy if someone could get your number and find out where you live? Shrill 02-25-2004, 05:52 PM It's not illegal, but there is a warning (on the left hand side) that comes with the product. http://www.192.com/products.cfm?icdaction=details&item_id=39 Philipf 02-25-2004, 06:52 PM Its not illegal unless their number is ex-directory....thats why the thompson local lists everyones number, name, street. delirium 02-27-2004, 10:23 AM Originally posted by Shrill It's not illegal, but there is a warning (on the left hand side) that comes with the product. http://www.192.com/products.cfm?icdaction=details&item_id=39 Its not illegal, but 192 info disk is effectively the electrol role. Most of you would have noticed in the UK (if you have moved in the past 2 years) that you now have to tick an extra box to appear on what is called the "edited electrol role" this information is now optional and the edited role is what 192 is now based on. Only registered credit check agencies etc will have access to the full electrol role. |
