I was wondering where the information on a virtual user is held, i thought it would be httpd.conf but there was nothing there, does anyone have an idea where they are?

Are you sure you're looking at httpd.conf for the actual server and not the admin server? If memory serves me, the config file should be in /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf
