Anybody have any positive results (new signups) from registering your company with online hosting directories, such as hostpulse.com, hostsearch.com, and others?
Seems like you just end up getting grouped with a billion other hosts in similar categories -- no way to stand out.
Hosting directories bring good potion of traffic to our website. It won't hurt to place your site there. If you have the right plans the user is looking for, then you should be on the list of search results.

Agreed, you'll be lumped in with a lot of other hosts, but remember that all the traffic going through those sites are looking for exactly that - hosts... It's worth sticking a link on any site you can if it'll draw some traffic but hosting directories should be your first port of call (along with search engines). webhostdir, and hostsearch bring the largest amount of traffic to us from that type of site, though it's worth adding as many as you can. It's worth searching the net for smaller directories as well, and may not have a lot of hosts on them to pick up the odd hit from here and there.
Beyond signups there's also the matter of recognition. People tend to gravitate to things they see often enough. If your site's on every other site they hit, they're going to end up remembering you :)

Anywhere you can get your name in a positive way is recommended.
