Oh my goodness.....

Ok, so I have a reseller account with a host that I am actually fairly happy with. However I ran into a problem that I cannot believe I overlooked before.

Why is it that Hsphere dows not support multiple FTP logins for Windows Shared IP hosting? This is my first reseller account and when I finally went to make another FTP for one of my accounts...... I couldnt. I'm told that it's not supported unledd you go dedicated or are using a Unix plan.

If I didnt need ASP and MsSQL I would go with a Unix plan for sure.

What the heck? How could something so basic NOT be included in Hsphere..... which looked to me to be a rather well-used CP. Ive had several hosts in the past, all shared windows plans. Though none of them were on Hsphere, they ALLLLLLLL had multiple FTP capability. If this basic feature truely isn't supported in Hsphere, than I think Psoft is a very stupid CP!

Now.. I THINK it is available if you change to a dedicated ip. However this isn't an option for me... that get's expensive quick!

So I need some recomendations. Multiple FTP logins for 1 account is a basic necessity of mine, as I am sure it is for most others.....

Any thoughts? Am I doomed to find another CP to use?

Hi,
Just to clear something up, multiple FTP users is not currently supported on H-Sphere (windows platform), whether you're on a dedicated IP, or shared.

I disagree with you on your statement of it's 'a basic feature', as it is very much the opposite of that. Stability is H-Sphere's key feature. I am told that the pSoft guys are trying to work multiple-user FTP into 2.4.

Trust me, if it was basic, it would be offered already.

You could take your own advice, and move to a different CP, but you'd be taking the biggest step back that is possible for your company and/or website.

The problem at the moment with FTP sub-accounts, is 1; the NTFS file system, and it's reluctance to cooperate on this matter. and 2: windows doesn't support multiple users under one quota. (both are direct from the developers mouth's).

They could probably throw up an insecure solution, as per other control panel development companies, but that certainly isn't the way I would want it, nor the other H-sphere distributors and users. We, as H-Sphere providers, take pride in the pure quality that oozes from this product, and would accept nothing less than it's current secure state.

I am very sure pSoft will find a (secure) way around it, as they always do.

I sure hope they do. Perhaps it is that it's a insecure solution... it's one that I have always had available though.

Having had something for so long, then having it taken away really caught me offguard, and I probably could have choosen better words. Don't get me wrong.... I would much rather perfer that a CP be stable and secure, but multiple FTP's for an account is a feature I need..... And to ME that feature makes only sence when you have several people that need to work on an account, but you only want them to be able to work on a specific domain or something.

I just really really hope they add it soon!!! I've grown rather fond of Hsphere hehe. It's a nice CP :)

Thanks ;)
